Terms of Service

Last updated 20 August 2026. These terms apply to the Cook Journal mobile app and this website.

1. Accepting these terms

By downloading, opening or using Cook Journal you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app. If you are under 13, you need a parent or guardian to accept these terms with you.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us at hello@cookjournal.app if you think someone else has access to it.

3. Your recipes stay yours

Everything you write, photograph and rate in Cook Journal belongs to you. We do not sell your recipes and we do not publish them anywhere without your action.

You give us a limited permission to store, back up and display your content inside the app, so the service can work on your devices. When you share a recipe, you allow the people you share it with to view and save that copy.

4. Acceptable use

  • Do not upload content that is illegal, hateful, or that you have no right to share.
  • Do not copy someone else's copyrighted recipe collection into a public share.
  • Do not attempt to break, overload, reverse engineer or resell the service.
  • Do not use the app to send unsolicited messages to other users.

5. Free use and paid features

Cook Journal is free to download. If we introduce optional paid features, the price and what is included will be shown clearly before you buy, and purchases are handled by the App Store or Google Play under their own refund rules.

6. Privacy and your data

Your recipes are stored on your device and, if you enable it, in your private backup. We collect only what is needed to run the app and never sell personal data. You can request deletion of your account and its data at any time by writing to hello@cookjournal.app. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

7. Food safety

Cook Journal is a notebook, not a nutritionist. Recipes, timings and notes in the app come from users. Use your own judgement about allergies, hygiene, storage and cooking temperatures.

8. Service availability

We work to keep the app running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may update, change or discontinue features. If we ever shut the service down, we will give you notice and a way to export your recipes.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Cook Journal and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, normally after a warning where that is reasonable.

10. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Cook Journal is provided as is, and we are not liable for indirect or incidental losses arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law in your country.

11. Changes to these terms

If we make a meaningful change, we will show a notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Cook Journal after that means you accept the updated terms.

12. Contact
